Our daughter has started attending a local church youth ministry and has grown very serious in her religious commitment. She preaches to us pretty regularly, and constantly tries to get us to see things her way. We love how religion has changed her life for the good (the change has been dramatic), but we would just prefer being preached to a lot less, and not being made to feel like "bad" people. How do we handle this without hurting her feelings?

You just need to sit her down and tell her how you feel. She is trying to share with you what is important to her. You never know, you might actually learn something.

Maybe it's a good idea for you to let her know you're interested in what she says but HOW she says it sounds condescending. That might alert her to the fact that she may be doing that with others and turn them off without even knowing it. A life lesson for her, and you'll get closer to her (and probably learn some things, too). At least, it can be a really healthy dialogue which will (hopefully) bring you together. (Sometimes you might need to "agree to disagree.") Good Luck!
