When our daughter comes home on college breaks we rarely seem to see her. She spends a lot of time with her friends--not even coming to family gatherings (something she looked forward to in the past). When she is at home with us, she sleeps a lot or is online or on the phone with friends. She is at the age where we can't make her do things (or can we?) We miss our daughter, what can we do?

Our kids are a bit older but when they came home from college we asked them if they wanted to bring their friends home, so we'd get to know the friends and our kids would feel better and more comfortable about being around us.
When they were younger it seemed that was a good "trick" when we would go places. It worked! Then the kids didn't feel like they were leaving their friends behind, but we were all together enjoying one another. |
