My 4-year old daughter doesn't like her Sunday school class at church. The teacher doesn't use curriculum, storybooks, games, coloring pages, crafts, songs, puppets or anything--she just reads the Bible to kids and then talks about it. She is enthusiastic, and loves the kids, but is making it boring for the kids. I am teaching her older brother's Sunday school class...but I am considering giving that up and trying to volunteer to teach her class.

As a parent I believe that a firm foundation for religion all begins with what we learn as children. If Sunday School is boring your daughter she might develop a bitter taste in her mouth regarding church as a whole. Its a great idea for you to volunteer and assist your daughters Sunday School teacher and show her how to make learning about God fun for the children!

I was a childrens pastor for 3 and a half years before moving to a different area of ministry. I can tell you what I have seen work is parents doing little games or fun lessons at home to reinforce the bible story. It gets them some fun interactive ways to learn the Word and you as the parent the opportunity to point them to God. To often we rely on the church to instill this stuff to our children as they should. But it is what we do with them the other 6 days of the week that make the biggest impact in their faith.
