Default Money--How do you cut down on the "money tree"?

My daughter graduated from high school in 2007 and has held a part-time job. She plans to begin a cl*** or two at the local community college. Right now she does not pay for her car, car insurance, cell phone, or most of her clothes. We can afford to continue financing her, but I want her to take more responsibility for her finances. Any suggestions?

Default Enabling can actually disable...the goal is equipping for independence

How helpful do you think you're being to help her become responsible, because isn't that one of your major jobs to teach her, to become independent and capable of taking care of herself. Sure, she might not be able to stand entirely on her own, but I hope you realize you're not doing her any favors by "helping" her. By "enabling" we often inadvertently "disable." Think about that one...It really does make a whole lot of sense!
